N.I.C.A. National Collegiate Ice Carving Championships 2018

Competition Specifics

 

Exact times and location of events may change due to weather conditions and outside temperature.

 

The competition is divided into three separate events.

All carvers must compete in all three events.

All carvers must be 18 years-old at time of competition.

 

We will have helpers to assist in stacking blocks, if necessary. Coaches are not permitted to handle ice without permission from the N.I.C.A. judges.

 

Competitors are given at 10’ x 10’ area in which to carve.

Individual carver locations are – luck of the draw.

Any sun or wind protectors are the responsibility of the carvers.

 

Decision of the N.I.C.A. officials is final.

 

Carving Blocks

Compulsory Event

One Block

Judges will provide a specific template prior to the event that will require the use of several techniques.

 

Freestyle Event

One Block

Carvers may choose to do any design they wish, but the figure must include specific techniques assigned by the judges.

 

Team Event

Three Blocks

Team partners will work together to carve a piece of their choosing.

Specific Rules Governing This Event

 

Any Questions Concerning These Rules Must Be Addressed to the National Ice Carving Association Director, Ken Dieterich

 

  1. The competition is comprised of two person teams.
  2. Both members of the team must attend the same institution of higher learning.
  3. Students must attend full time and present proof that they are registered at the time of the competition.

 

NEW FOR 2018

  1. Due to lodging and carving site limitations, we must limit our competition to 16 teams – 32 carvers.  Each college may bring up to three teams.
