Accessories for Ice Carving

Headphones

These headphones are great, they keep the sound out and have a FM radio so you can listen to music.  They make some that take MP3 players as well.  It sure made him happy!

Poly Plank 2” foam

2lb, 4 lb or 6lb

The weight will tell you how durable the foam is.  2lb is not as dense as the 6lb, so it does not last as long.  You can drop a block of ice on this foam and it will not break. You can cut on it with your saw and it is easy on your equipment.  Great stuff to line your freezer floor with.

Hand Truck with lift

This is great for moving blocks around and single block sculptures.  Once you get to your location simply crank the handle and it will lift your ice to the table for you.  Its good for your back!

Gun Cases

If you compete or carve a lot of demonstrations and you find your self moving your tools constantly, then get some gun cases.  They are great for protecting die grinders with bits attached, chisels, hand saws and more.... Keep your bits on your tools without ruining them.

If you know of a tool that should be listed in this section please contact us.  You can take a picture of the tool write a brief description and tell us if you recommend or do not recommend it for other carvers.  Email it to me and I will be happy to put it on the site.

Notice the carving stand.  It moves up and down according to the desired height of the carver.  Lift tables work great and can help in a number of ways.  First it saves on the back, less lifting and bending.  Second it lets you carve in the comfort zone (above the waist and below your shoulders) which makes it ease to make straight and level cuts.  A must have tool for any ice carving shop.  Manual or electric lifts are on the market.  You can spend anywhere from $100 to $3000.  Do some shopping!
