Pruning saw
Keyhole saw
A small pruning saw is a cost effective purchase and is a great way to shape a sculpture. It is not too aggressive and helps to round out the inside of curves. A keyhole saw is a great tool for shaping a sculpture. It can also create a texture on your piece in cold weather. This helps to create contrast and makes for great photos.
Flat chisels
Flat chisels are great because they leave a clear crystal finish. Use this tool to create shapes and textures on the ice. It is a good idea to have some short handle and long handle chisels. Try a Fat Max chisel,it is inexpensive and has a short
handle with a 2” edge or
smaller.
Gouge Chisel
V-chisels
Gouge Chisel shows a beautiful texture and makes the ice look like an organic flowing shape. It has a rounded or curved edge. This can not be duplicated with a power tool.
The V is a chisel with two cutting
surfaces that create a sharp and
crystal v-groove in the ice. Leaves great detail lines and makes your sculpture appear to look like glass.
